What would you do?

Last night Todd and were chatting on the way to Brett’s ball game about money—the most talked about subject in any relationship, I think. It came up, and I was asked what I want—monetarily. What a question, HMMMM. Let me think, Prada? Vera Wang? Mercedes Benz? He would like some land, a boat, camper..the normal BOY TOYS! Me, well I really don’t want anything. I am content and happy with those things we have. We have a home and two cars that are just about paid off. We have food on the table, clothes on our backs and don’t lack for much. I would like a savings account, vacations, and not to have to work full time, or if I did it could be put away for retirement or college for the kids.
Of course that brought us to….IF I WAS RICH….OH image what we could do. I could help so many people! I would make life a little easier on our friends in Mercy, the charities that are special to us (Gabi’s Grace and Down Syndrome Guild to name a few). I could do so many good things with the money. I probably wouldn’t change my life style much because I would give all the money away. I would pay off the house and college for the kids first though. I would love to spend my days volunteering at the school, or getting more involved in the Downs syndrome Guild or National Congress. I would love to write a book about the misrepresentation of people with Downs syndrome. OH, DREAM A LITTLE DREAM.
And while we are on it…I don’t understand these celebrities and their frivolous ways. Look at the money they make and yet still lack direction or the smarts to help those less fortunate. They are in rehab or have been in rehab. I would definitely give, give, give. I was watching the reality show Gone Country the other day. (YUP, I am tired of reality TV but Todd watches it so I had sat down too) Well, what it is..is a bunch of has been rock stars or actors trying to make it as a country singer/song writer. Anyway, they took them to a Children’s hospital. Bobby Brown became very emotional during the whole deal…..very moving possibly to some. I, being the critic that I am having spent months in a hospital, wonder just how much it really moved him. Did it move him enough to spend additional time, outside the cameras, there? Did it move him to volunteer or support causes that the hospital works for? Did it move him to do a fundraiser or anything? It wasn’t just him, it was all the celebrities. I know not all celeb’s are like this but it just irks me those that are!
I know money cannot buy happiness but I sure could make life a little better for a lot of people which would make me really HAPPY!!!!
