We had an excellent day yesterday. He woke up in a great mood. We got dressed and went for another walk in the garden and returned to the ICU and made a few laps before going back to the room. He is such a ham, he was waving and saying "Hi" to everyone like he was running for office. He is quite the celebrity here. After having a nap, we got back up and went for another stroll around the ICU. After the stroll, we got him out of the stroller and held his hands while he walked. He was a little wobbly, but did really good. He was off of the bipap mask for 16 hours during the day and only wore if while sleeping. In the afternoon after his stroll, I sat him in the rocker and he wore his headphones while he watched little bear. He fell asleep around 7:30 pm and slept till approximately 5 am.
Today we woke up in another great mood just chatting away. Did some chest PT to loosen up some of the gunk he accumulates over night and sounded really good after the PT. We then got him dressed and went for another walk through the garden before it got hot again. We returned to the ICU and made a couple of loops before coming back to the room. I hope the plan for today is to keep him off of the mask all day and maybe some of the night while he sleeps. He is starting to get back to the sweet Tucker boy I know.
My goals this week are to have him eating, drinking, hopefully walking and moved to a regular floor room before Karen returns next Tuesday. Go Tucker go!!!
